There are a number of large real estate firms in Walnut Creek and surrounding areas, both national franchises and those locally owned and operated. What they all share is a common model of doing business – hiring anyone with a real estate license as an independent contractor to sell real estate under their name. All these firms position themselves with the public as having some special marketing or sales ability that exceeds that of other companies. The truth is that the marketing and sale of any home or the proper representation of a homebuyer is something that is in the hands of the individual agent, not the company on their business card.
Some agents switch real estate companies as often as they get their business cards printed, always attracted to the newer company in the marketplace or the company with the bigger office, different management or offer of higher commission split. Companies dangle innovative new software, marketing materials, better commission splits, etc. – anything to sign up more agents. It’s simply a numbers game.
